HHi There,
Welcome to Subterranean Voice. These are paintings which offer observations
of what happens when too much pain is concealed beneath the surface view
of one's self. With all due respect, if you were looking for something to coordinate
with your interior decor, these pieces are not of that genre.
There is a written message hidden within each painting. If this seems strange,
I can only say that I must do what I must do. I am a person who studied
visual art for expressing feelings which do not translate into everyday language.
I was born in Manhattan in 1954, and have been
painting non-stop since age 17. During the late 1970s I trained to become an illustrator
at Pratt Institute in Manhattan, my birthplace.
I should tell you that most of these canvases took months to paint; They are visually complex.
Although I started this site as a sales pitch, nothing happened. ( I mean nothing.)
After the first six months went by, I began to think about the fact that this site is going all over
North America because I am on Yahoo under "contemporary art". I began to think about
the decades of rejection from commercial galleries because they would not touch material
like mine. ( I've spent my entire adult life working in department stores as a basic retail schlep
broken up only by thirteen years of changing diapers for developmentally disabled adults.)
I realized that at age 52, I have found a way to step over the gallery owners the internet.
All because my
late father left me money. So, I
can afford page one on Yahoo and am simply
showing you what I am, which is what I originally needed to do at age 19.
( The trick to staying on page one is to cut out 99% of the extraneous categories that Yahoo gives you
and stick with one category and only a couple of keywords so that a high per-click bid will not be
rapidly consumed in extraneous categories and keywords.)
If anyone out there in curator land wants to hang one of these things up to freak out
the trustees, please call me 914 - 316 - 4191, or E-mail me at NB333333@aol.com
